Albumen carte-de-visite photograph, c 1872-1886 Photographer: Foy Brothers, Thames 105 x 63 mm The chief wears the highly prized tail feathers of the huia bird in his hair; a greenstone ear pendant, kuru, along with a feather ear ornament; and a feather cloak, kahu-huruhuru. Excellent contrast and condition; the discolouration on the edges of mount was originally present, before the carte de visite was mounted.
