#2080 Young native man, Fly River, south coast New Guinea Original albumen photograph, c 1880's 205 x 140 mm (not mounted) Inscribed in pencil verso Fly River / New Guinea. The young man wears a woven ornament on his upper arm and an ear plug. An astonishing portrait, most likely taken on the 1885 Everill expedition to the Fly River and Strickland River in the ship Bonito. Slightly trimmed left side; top edge creased and folded slightly.
