The voyage of the SS Moresby to New Guinea and the Solomon Islands An archive of photographs by the Reverend Dr. George Brown Provenance: The Voyage: The Methodist missionary the Rev. Dr. George Brown (1835-1917) was active in Melanesia and Polynesia throughout the later part of the 19th century. Brown's images were published as photographic plates in his own works: numerous images from among the Brown archive which we are offering for sale appear as plates in both his autobiography George Brown: Pioneer-Missionary and Explorer (1908) and in Melanesians and Polynesians (1910).
